Goodsline Bridge Refurbishment
Project Details
The Goods Line Bridge was refurbished as a part of the Urban Renewal Project. The Goods Line was established in 1955 as a trade link from Central Station to the Inner West of Sydney. Now, the walkway creates a new urban hub which connects more than 80,000 tertiary students, locals and visitors to the many major attractions of Sydney’s Darling Harbour and surrounding suburbs
Description of Works
Eptec’s scope of work over a 5 month time frame was to scaffold, encapsulate, blast and paint the steel work as well as some repair works to the north and south brick abutments. As the structure is in close proximity to pedestrians, a childcare center and cafes, the management of lead risk was paramount to the success of the project. Work was completed on both day shift and during the weekend shutdowns where road closures were utilised to allow for additional scaffold access. The project was a success with lead dust emission remaining well within Australian Standard requirements.
